Oh dear, what a pity.... generally decent quality women's and men's products, but if you need to return something, the handling is a mess - make sure the measurements of the item you order are spot on. The return and refund policy of 15 days is alright, but Customer Service won't confirm receipt until the refund is processed, yet they will take payment for an exchange without delay. Come on HOB, improve your game and show some consideration to your customers. Regardless, we won't be shopping with you again; there are plenty of good quality competitors who understand the importance of respecting their customers.

The swing designated for older children tends to veer sideways, leading to collisions with the substantial support structures. Additionally, the ground covering of bark is insufficient, with numerous sizable stones left exposed and posing a potential risk.

Great spot to drop by on the A9. It's always bustling, but well laid out so no long lines for coffee and such. They have a wide array of lovely, albeit pricey, merchandise. The strolls to the waterfalls are absolutely delightful.

I must say, I found my recent visit to the department store quite bewildering. It was my first time there on Saturday, and I was met with a scene of chaos, stress, and disorganization. This is certainly not what one would anticipate from a place that prides itself on offering high-end goods with a price tag to match!
The service at the winter warmer shack was sluggish, the signposting was poor and unclear, some paths led straight onto busy roads, there was a lack of information and even misleading details on the website. The crowds of people milling around created bottlenecks, particularly in the food hall, toilet, and restaurant areas. And why on earth are donuts and mince pies sold only in pairs? Why not just have the option to purchase one? The list of issues seemed endless.
I had come hoping for a delightful experience, to fill my basket with treats and enjoy a lovely lunch. Instead, I left feeling stressed and let down. I certainly hadn't expected the place to be so overwhelmed in the middle of October, and I have no plans to return.
I gave it two stars only because the few things I did try were tasty, and the scenery outside was lovely.
As an example, let's look at "The Bakery":
According to the website, this is a part of the food shop where you can buy packaged cakes and biscuits.
In reality, it's a hidden café tucked away within the restaurant seating area, discovered only after you've already purchased food in the restaurant. They offer a different selection of food items!
There was no mention of a separate café on the website; only references to the fish and chip shop, winter warmer shack, and the restaurant.

I must say, our recent visit to the department store's restaurant was quite disappointing. The transition from breakfast service to lunch could have been smoother. We found ourselves waiting for 15 minutes before being served, despite all the lunch items already being prepared. To make matters worse, we were informed that our order required a buzzer and an additional 10-minute wait.
We requested a table indoors to avoid the cold weather, but the one we chose was dirty from the previous customers' soup spills. Although we asked for it to be cleaned, we waited for someone to attend to it while they took their time replacing milk at the coffee station. In the end, I had to clear the table myself, as there were no designated areas for customers to do so.
The only saving grace of our visit was one staff member who was friendly and attentive when serving our main meal. It reminded me of the Tebay concept of dining, but in terms of service, Tebay certainly outshines this department store based on our experience.

It's December, so one would think that House Of Bruar would be buzzing with Christmas cheer, right?
I must say, my recent visit to House Of Bruar was quite underwhelming compared to my experience two years ago. The lack of Christmas spirit was quite evident, with the holiday decorations in the gift department tucked away in a corner that you could easily miss. I'm not saying they should have been blasting Christmas tunes non-stop, but a little background music could have helped create a more festive atmosphere. When I last visited two years ago to do my Christmas shopping, the food hall seemed to have a better selection of holiday items. This time around, the food hall felt smaller and stocked mostly with large quantities of the same products rather than a variety of different ones. Also, I couldn't help but notice how many of the female staff in the food hall seemed quite miserable. Alison at the till seemed particularly disinterested – perhaps she needs a change of scenery. On the flip side, Marion in the jewelry section was lovely, as were many of the other staff in the gift department. It seems like the food hall is where morale is at its lowest, with employees begrudgingly serving customers. Even in the restaurant area, the chef who came out of the kitchen seemed annoyed when asked about the food being served, answering abruptly and even responding with a bewildered "What?!!" at one point. I was hoping to inquire about buying a lobster at the counter, but the chef completely ignored me, walking off to the kitchen while absentmindedly picking his ear. That incident alone was enough to deter me from purchasing a lobster, so I decided to leave.
The only silver lining of my visit was the snowfall as I was leaving and being served by a delightful man from Brazil at the outdoor refreshment kiosk.
I'm uncertain if I'll be back anytime soon or if I'll be getting my Christmas hampers from here, a tradition I've maintained for several years. It's a shame because I've had some wonderful visits over the years.
