What a real treasure!!! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the history museum. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and made to feel right at home. The curator even demonstrated how the mill wheel operates, which was a highlight! The cakes and coffee were absolutely divine - I could eat them every day. If I find myself in this region again, you can bet I'll be making a return trip.

Oh my goodness, what an absolutely splendid experience! From the moment we met Robert, we were greeted with such knowledge, friendliness, and humor. Our journey through time began with smiles on our faces. It truly felt like a stroll down memory lane, with items that resonated with many members of our families, some of which we had completely forgotten about. We believe that younger generations would find so much to explore and discover here. Without a doubt, we wholeheartedly recommend this experience. To top it off, we enjoyed a delightful coffee and scone from the charming on-site cafe, where the lady and young man were incredibly welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be returning, especially as the exhibitions change.

A most fascinating museum showcasing the intriguing history of rural life and attire. The assortment of costumes is extensive, with displays constantly refreshed for different exhibitions. During our visit, we were captivated by the "Treasures from the Orient" exhibit, featuring exquisite Chinese imperial garments, traditional Japanese attire, alongside the quintessential British fashion from the Victorian era onwards. To top it off, there's a delightful café offering delectable cakes. Indeed, a visit here is highly recommended.
Peter Allen (21/06/2025, 04:40):
It was a jolly good day out at the History Museum, I must say! The proprietor kindly provided us with an overview of the museum. There were three floors to explore, showcasing an array of costumes and life artifacts. Descending downstairs, we delved into intriguing details about the mill's renovation and its operations.

Oh, and the freshly baked scones at the cafe were simply splendid! The staff were incredibly charming and hospitable.

Do be mindful, though, as the museum features rather steep stairs. If you're accompanied by a pram, it's best to leave it on the ground floor. Fear not, the cafe does offer two high chairs for little ones. Cheers!
Kenneth Coleman (19/06/2025, 21:43):

Absolutely top-notch experience at the history museum! I was pleasantly surprised by the extensive collection on display, complete with fascinating anecdotes about the origins of each item and the history behind the collection itself. The costume collection was particularly impressive, along with the engaging family and mill narratives, as well as the displays featuring household and agricultural artifacts from days gone by. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the tearoom was simply delightful. A massive thank you to all involved!

Janet Harris (10/06/2025, 17:40):
This museum café is likely more popular among the retired crowd, with its main trade being the cozy ambiance rather than just the milk itself. It's a family-run establishment that offers a traditional menu with delicious home-baked treats. The menu is tailored to suit the tastes of older folks, making it a favorite spot for pensioners to enjoy a leisurely meal.
