I reached out to 8yards in May 2021 and had the pleasure of dealing with Kyle Swadzba at the Dalkeith store. Kyle was an absolute gem! We exchanged emails, designing and crafting custom tartan accessories for my furry companions. He also provided me with a few extra items to complement my kilt and even created a bespoke baby tie for my 8-month-old nephew so he could coordinate with the wedding party. Kyle was always incredibly respectful, polite, and attentive to my preferences, never rushing the process. When I requested some adjustments, he graciously accommodated them without any fuss. I wholeheartedly recommend 8Yards and will certainly be back if I ever need anything in the future.

She rummaged through their stock and picked out exactly what I (and the missus) agreed on Thursday arvo. My partner and I made the decision to have a kilt ensemble tailored for our wedding, which he also planned to wear for the Chinese tea ceremony during the first part of our big day. Our hearts were captured instantly when we laid eyes on the Claret Hunting Scott outfit by 8 Yards at a wedding exhibition last year. Every aspect, from the choice of tartan to the burgundy sporran and the paisley detailing inside the suit jacket, makes this kilt outfit the perfect Scottish twist on the traditional groom's attire typically worn in Chinese weddings. We are absolutely smitten! And the service from Kyle at 8 Yards has been outstanding, going above and beyond by accommodating us outside of regular hours on Saturdays at their Eskbank warehouse for designing, measuring, and fitting the outfit. As a former employee, it was a no-brainer for me to head to the Kilt shop and hire when I needed a kilt outfit for a wedding, knowing the fantastic range they have available for both hire and purchase!
Upon arriving at the HQ in Eskbank, I was warmly greeted by the entire team. They took the time to carefully go over every detail of the outfit with me and kindly reminded me how to properly wear it (it had been a few years, after all!). The team truly shone and were invaluable assets to the company.
The quality of the outfit was, as always, exceptional and drew numerous compliments at the wedding.
I can't speak highly enough of the service provided by this group. They are experts in their field, incredibly knowledgeable, handle everything with great care, and always go above and beyond to meet customers' needs. The entire process was seamless – even though I had my measurements taken at the Haymarket shop, it was no trouble at all to have the outfit collected and returned at the Eskbank store.
I have another wedding coming up in May 2025, and I will most definitely return to get suited up again! Thank you once more to the team for making this experience so effortless and enjoyable.

I had a bit of trouble finding the shop as there wasn't any signage or a clear entrance, quite tricky, you know. But once inside, a lovely young lady was ever so helpful. I must say, the price for the item I purchased was just splendid. However, it was a tad disappointing that their business card didn't even have their website address on it. Overall, a decent experience but could do with a few improvements, I reckon. Cheers!
