An immersive and realistic experience, indeed! Surprisingly longer than anticipated, lasting about 2 hours excluding the films (40 and 20 mins). A profound exploration of the 60s with a plethora of historical information and hidden gems. A definite must-visit if you find yourself in Scotland or the vicinity! Additionally, the café boasts a charming ambiance.

Fascinating experience. Spent around 2-3 hours exploring the museum. Two films to watch, totaling about 1 hour. No elevator available, had to climb 3 flights of concrete stairs and walk down a long corridor to reach the entrance. Impressive amount of artifacts to see, really makes you ponder. Quaint café available for a break. Gift shop located on the ground floor. Several military vehicles on display outside. Ample parking space with charging stations.

A most fascinating establishment, brimming with facts and history. The preservation is truly admirable. It's quite sobering to contemplate that all of this was occurring during a time of peace, unbeknownst to us. The cafe is delightful, although I cannot provide feedback on the cuisine as the chef was absent, resulting in only beverages and light nibbles being available – crisps, cakes. The receptionist was tremendously helpful, kindly offering to watch over our canine companion while we ventured into the cafe as dogs were not permitted inside.

We had previously visited the area without any knowledge of this astonishing historical site. So we decided to pay a visit with my husband, our two grown-up kids - aged 18 and 20 - as it was just a short 10-minute drive away.
It truly is a peculiar, unsettling, and mind-blowing experience in so many ways. The access is almost unrestricted, and the underground layout is so vast that it's hard to comprehend. It appears quite unremarkable from the outside! We were concerned about feeling claustrophobic, but there is ample space and room to move around. The audio guide is essential, or else you won't fully grasp what you are seeing or how the site evolved from the 1950s onwards. It was also fascinating to learn that it was on high alert during the Miner’s strike, amidst fears of civil war, which was quite shocking to me as I remember those days vividly.
Naturally, such sites and operational facilities must exist, but the atmosphere is truly chilling. We ventured into the Cinema to watch one of the dramatized films of the era, created as a public information piece on post-nuclear attack societal predictions. It was deeply disturbing, not only due to the graphic injuries depicted but also the brutal breakdown of law and order, with police shooting the wounded who had no chance of survival and executing rebels. Horrifying.
Finding solace in the CND room was a relief, and I was pleased to see it represented in the overall narrative.
Our subsequent conversations were thought-provoking. A visit is definitely worthwhile for a unique and meaningful experience during your vacation - though I don't think it's suitable for children under 10. I would love to see it included as a school trip destination for all secondary education students!

This place was quite fascinating but also quite somber, providing a glimpse into what the aftermath of a nuclear attack on the UK might have been like for the people. I wouldn't have wanted to be inside the bunker, nor would I have wanted to be outside during an attack. The entire site is truly intriguing and was still functional up until the early 1990s, showcasing a variety of manual technology and techniques that are mostly obsolete now as everything is computer-operated. It does make one reflect on the recent Air Traffic incident.
The staff is quite efficient, and the café offers reasonably priced meals and drinks with friendly and helpful service.

I absolutely adored this place! It was a tad chilly underground, but overall it was a fantastic experience! They provided a wheelchair for my granny, which made it much easier for her to navigate through the museum. The exhibits were fascinating and not overly crowded. The cafe was particularly impressive in its stylish design. Each room had corresponding numbers for the audio guide, and there was even a friendly cat that tagged along with us! The cinema was another highlight for me. I'm already looking forward to my next visit 😃

I must say, I was completely unaware of its existence, just on the outskirts of St Andrews and less than an hour from Dundee. What a marvelous slice of history! Quite fascinating, with a plethora of exhibits and a wealth of information to delve into. There are even some trucks and planes on display outside. Admission is priced at £37 for 2 adults. Absolutely a worthwhile excursion if you happen to be in the vicinity.
