Traveled all the way from Inverness to celebrate my birthday dinner. My partner always selects a unique restaurant for this occasion. The dining experience was outstanding....the hospitality was exceptional. The service was extremely friendly and they were truly experts on the menu. Each course was outstanding. The flavors were exquisite and the presentation was beautiful. The 7-course tasting menu was the only option available, but when it's as fantastic as it is, no other options are necessary. I will definitely return as the entire area is breathtaking.

We had a lovely dining experience, although I do have a couple of suggestions to offer. Recently, we indulged in a delightful 10-course tasting menu at Skye (specifically at the Edinbane Lodge - a spot I highly recommend!), where the timing of each dish was executed flawlessly. In comparison, we found that the timing at The Cellar left much to be desired. Our meal stretched over three hours, not because we intended it to, but due to us frequently pondering the whereabouts of the staff, the slowing pace of courses, and even lingering after requesting our bill. As we were the last patrons remaining, it felt like an unnecessary wait. Regrettably, this somewhat overshadowed our evening, as we were simply eager to unwind back at our hotel by that point.

Another aspect I was particularly anticipating was the ambiance, as there were indications suggesting a casual, warm, and inviting setting. While the service staff was indeed amicable, the absence of the chef's presence and the presence of a large screen dividing the kitchen and dining area gave off a different vibe. Perhaps this is merely a matter of personal preference.
