I must say, I am quite fond of this Tesco store, as it is conveniently close to me. However, one aspect that truly irks me is the behavior of a certain staff member named David. Allow me to illustrate the scene for you... So, I popped into the store for a few items. My little one was napping in the stroller, so I had a basket and a self-scanner to make things easier and quicker. I placed a 4-pint bottle of milk at the bottom of the stroller after scanning it along with a few other items. When I reached the self-checkout area, David pointed out that I had milk under my stroller, to which I politely explained that it had been scanned. After I paid and placed my shopping bag under the stroller, David then aggressively inquired if the milk had been scanned. Once again, I kindly confirmed that it had been paid for. As I made my way to leave, David suddenly rushed... no, actually, scurried over to snatch the receipt to verify the milk was indeed on there. I am unsure if his behavior stemmed from some form of stereotype or if he simply lacks more valuable skills to contribute to Tesco. As a woman shopping alone in the evening with her child, I felt harassed and intimidated. Perhaps a customer service training program would be beneficial for David, enabling him to engage with patrons in a more professional manner. While I understand that staff have a responsibility to inquire, the manner in which he handled the situation was utterly disappointing and distasteful.
