What a delightful find! The museum is surprisingly expansive and brimming with captivating artifacts. The period attire is truly remarkable and displayed in a more approachable manner than one might expect in a traditional museum setting. With an extensive collection encompassing various facets of rural domestic and occupational life, there are countless intriguing items to admire. Our visit was made even more special by the warm welcome and enlightening anecdotes shared by the curator and proprietor, shedding light on the origins of the museum and its treasures. Witnessing the operational mill wheel and its intricate machinery within the structure was a highlight. A visit to this museum is certainly a rewarding experience!

I was the driver who dropped off some local school children at the museum. While they were inside exploring, I had a lovely and warm cup of tea that really hit the spot. I decided to treat myself to a Ploomans lunch with two fruit scones and two cheese scones to go. The lunch was absolutely delicious, and the scones were still warm from the oven when I picked them up. They were so tasty that I am already looking forward to coming back for another lunch during the Easter Break! 🐣 😋

Charming and fascinating historical museum located across multiple levels of an old mill. (Access to upper floors is via stairs only)

Features displays of period clothing, tools, and appliances, as well as two room setups with mannequins.

There is a café on-site offering meals and snacks, and the surrounding grounds provide a delightful riverside walk.

The waterwheel is functional, and there is a captivating story in the museum about the challenges faced in sourcing the wood needed to restore the paddles.

A great way to spend a few hours immersing yourself in entertainment and education at a reasonable cost. Highly recommended.
Stephanie Gutierrez (10/07/2025, 20:15):
A most extraordinary and charming museum, located in a truly picturesque setting, established by a family with roots tracing back to millers whose operational mill this once served as. The edifice and the mill itself, complete with its functional wheel, have been meticulously refurbished by the family, and the endeavor is presently overseen by a trust, with prominent family engagement still in force. A delightful tearoom is on premises, serving delectable freshly prepared fare. The cakes are utterly divine. Presently showcased is a remarkable exhibition of Japanese kimonos, replete with splendid designs, vibrant hues, and exquisite craftsmanship. The staff is exceptional, possessing profound expertise and a willingness to assist, notably Chris, a youthful family member recently graduated from university, who evidently harbors a deep affection for the establishment and its collection.
Virginia Ortiz (10/07/2025, 05:20):
It's always a pleasure to explore this captivating establishment. There's an abundance of historical wonders to behold and absorb. Not to mention, the cafe is absolutely splendid!
Gabriel Peterson (08/07/2025, 15:06):

I must say, the small friendly café at the museum deserves a solid 5-star rating. While I didn't have the chance to explore the museum itself, I thoroughly enjoyed a delightful selection of fresh, homemade food at the café. From savory soups to tasty sandwiches, and not to mention the delightful tea and cake offerings - it was definitely value for money.
