Exploring Asda Straiton Superstore: A Comprehensive Review

Asda Straiton Superstore, located in Loanhead, offers a variety of offerings that cater to the needs of local shoppers. With a diverse range of food products, household items, and clothing, there’s something for everyone at this supermarket. Let's dive deep into what makes this store unique and some areas where it could improve.

Store Highlights and Accessibility

One of the key *highlights* of Asda Straiton Superstore is its wheelchair-accessible entrance and wheelchair-accessible car park. This ensures that individuals with disabilities can shop comfortably. Free parking options, including free of charge street parking, are also available, making it convenient for shoppers. However, customers have pointed out that finding a good selection of great produce can be challenging due to shelves often appearing empty or poorly stocked. Many have raised concerns about metal cans and other items being frequently out of stock, which detracts from the shopping experience.

Shopping Experience: In-Store Insights

Inside the store, you’ll find a traditional layout that includes all major grocery sections—frozen and chilled foods, fresh produce, and even a dedicated area for pet foods and alcohol. Some customers appreciate the quick visit service when picking up pre-ordered items through in-store pick-up. However, feedback indicates that the overall organization can be improved, as gaps in stock and untidy aisles have been reported during peak hours. Checkout service is generally recognized as fast and friendly, but issues with staff responsiveness at self-checkouts have also surfaced. Customers have noted long wait times for assistance, particularly when technology does not work seamlessly.

Payment Options and Customer Service

Asda Straiton accommodates various payment methods including credit cards and NFC mobile payments. Unfortunately, customer service experiences vary considerably. While some shoppers highlight kind and helpful staff like Fiona and Jonathan, others report encountering rudeness from personnel, especially during busy shifts. A notable point of concern has been the inconsistency in quality, particularly regarding stale bread and outdated items. Customers are encouraged to check expiration dates diligently, as the store sometimes stocks goods past their best before dates.

Sustainable Practices and Community Engagement

An emerging focus for supermarkets worldwide is sustainability. At Asda Straiton, customers are encouraged to participate in recycling efforts, particularly concerning glass bottles and batteries. Engaging the local community in sustainable practices enhances the store's reputation, though improvements in this area continue to be suggested.

Delivery Services and Online Shopping

For those who prefer shopping from home, Asda offers delivery services and no-contact delivery options. However, there have been mixed reviews about the reliability of these services. Customers have voiced frustrations when delivery expectations are not met, emphasizing the need for better communication regarding order status. Shopping online through the Click & Collect service is another popular option, allowing customers to order groceries ahead of time and pick them up conveniently.

Conclusion

In summary, Asda Straiton Superstore provides a wide array of products and services aimed at fulfilling the needs of its shoppers. While the availability of great produce and overall cleanliness of the store receive mixed reviews, its commitment to accessibility and its extensive range of offerings remain commendable. Continued focus on improving customer service, stock management, and sustainability will only enhance the shopping experience for everyone.

Recently opened, a decently sized and quite spacious establishment. The staff is friendly and the services provided are satisfactory. Nevertheless, this particular store might not carry as extensive a range of products as other larger ASDA stores do.
Dylan Hamilton (01/06/2025, 10:36):
In recent months, there has been a shortage of small trolleys at the store, and the software updates for the self-checkout handheld devices seem to take an eternity to scan items, often resulting in error codes or failing to scan altogether.
Rachel Patterson (01/06/2025, 08:09):
Insufficient people on the checkouts, changed my review from two stars to one. If there are meal deals, you have to inspect your receipt every time. The number of times I've had to return is ridiculous. Also, the items that are just within date. This used to be my preferred store. My wife went back today, 1st March 2024. She purchased cheese at a reduced price of £3.25 down to £1.95, but at the checkout, she was charged £3.25. Upon returning to customer service, they acknowledged the overcharge. Come on Asda, get your act together. This issue occurs daily, and I will caution everyone I know to be wary. It's truly bad.

They charged the original price. So back to customer service, where they confirmed the overcharge. How many people don't check their receipts? Does Asda do this deliberately? It's becoming a habit. The staff at customer service are very helpful, but it's unfortunate that you have to seek their assistance so frequently. I won't return anymore.

I recently had a very troubling experience at the supermarket. I was followed by a security officer who accused me of stealing. Despite showing all of my receipts, the officer continued to question every purchase. They even claimed that there was no evidence of me using the tills, suggesting that the video playback on the security screens may not have been functioning properly.

After going through all of the items on my receipt, the security officer abruptly threw it back into my trolley and walked away. It was a distressing situation, especially since my son was with me at the time.

I attempted to contact the store to address the issue but was unsuccessful. The whole ordeal was shocking and left me feeling unsettled. If you could provide me with an email address, I would appreciate it so that I can share more details about what happened.

Appalling experience! There was this bloke manning the customer service counter, I say, as I queued up in the regular line initially only to be directed to another register for returns. Well, I waited a good 15 minutes while he attended to everyone in the queue ahead of me, and even some who joined after. Only after all of that faff, did I finally get served. The manager really ought to get her staff trained properly! This has got to be the most dreadful shop I've ever come across. Save yourselves the trouble, chaps, and head on over to the one on Milton Road where the staff are far more professional!
Catherine Ortiz (31/05/2025, 01:36):
I must say, I was quite dissatisfied with my recent experience at the supermarket. I found myself waiting an awfully long time for my breakfast, only to see that the store colleagues and Just Eat orders were being prioritized over me. It seemed as though the staff were just aimlessly walking about, with no real sense of urgency. Quite a disappointing visit overall.
Edward Phillips (30/05/2025, 11:23):
This ASDA supermarket is dreadful, I must say. Bare shelves, no one around to slice the bread, and what a chaos! That's all there is to it, really.
Teresa Roberts (30/05/2025, 09:49):
The store is lovely and usually well-stocked, but I have noticed that the dates on some products can be a bit iffy. They're sometimes still on the shelves even after they've passed their best-before or use-by dates.
Catherine Cruz (28/05/2025, 11:24):
I was at Stration on Sunday morning with a young man in an electric wheelchair. Jonathan came to the rescue and assisted me without any hesitation, and then helped me out to the van. Talk about top-notch customer service! He always has such a pleasant demeanor.
Emily Powell (28/05/2025, 08:41):
I had a bit of a hiccup with my Debit Card at the checkout and had to leave to sort it out. Thankfully, Fiona, one of the staff members, was absolutely fantastic. She set aside my items for me and even went the extra mile of storing my chilled products in the fridge until I returned! I'll definitely be making this supermarket my go-to from now on, and I highly recommend it to others.
