I do my grocery shopping early and am often compelled to use the self-service checkout. However, I must question the decision to station a surly, dour woman there to supervise. When I inquired about an item that wouldn't scan, she glared at me as if I were Jack the Ripper, snatching the item from my hands with rude impatience. Perhaps not a morning person? But there's no need to take it out on me.

Here's a top tip for folks traveling to and from the ferry - they have really clean bathrooms and offer a fantastic breakfast at great prices!

I must say, the Asda in Ardrossan is quite lacking in their vegan product selection. I used to rely on finding Philadelphia spreading cheese muffins and no fish pieces, all vegan, but it's been months since they were last in stock. While I can find vegan options at the Irvine store, my mobility issues make it challenging for me to shop there regularly. It's disappointing because I depend on this store for my groceries. As a result, I'll be turning to Tesco online as they offer a wider range of choices. It's really tough to support your local store when they don't cater to your needs in the way you'd hope.

Managed to save £40 today on non-grocery items. I found myself waiting in line at the only open checkout, and boy did I wait. The cashier was working at lightning speed, but the line just wouldn't budge. Another person joined the queue behind me. And still, I waited. Eventually, I decided to abandon my basket and walk out. As much as I appreciate a good deal, my time is valuable too. No offense to Asda, but I prefer not to use self-checkout.

I popped into the supermarket on Tuesday and received top-notch customer service from Calum at the self-checkout! He was incredibly helpful and I really appreciated it. It truly enhanced my shopping experience! I wish there were more like him in other stores!

We do our weekly grocery shopping at this place, and let me tell you, the folks at the checkout are top-notch - they've got quite the memory for faces! The store is actually bigger than it looks from the outside and has a great variety of products to cater to different tastes. The book corner is quite convenient, and despite the limited space, the clothing section offers a decent selection. The overall vibe of the shop is pleasant, with cheerful staff at the registers always ready to lend a hand.

So, there was this dodgy bloke right, he was proper stalking us just to drop £8.20 on some chocolate and crisps for his missus. We tried to shake him off in the aisles but he kept popping up again. Asda should really ban him, mate.
Theresa Martinez (16/05/2025, 12:34):
Quite handy for me with a good range of essentials in stock.
Joshua Adams (15/05/2025, 10:32):
The quality of the groceries is rather lacking, and their store brand items aren't up to par. It seems like they devote too much room to non-food products. The checkout staff is not very helpful, unlike Morrisons Stevenston, which stands out with its superior store layout and high-quality produce selection.
Diane Perry (14/05/2025, 10:55):
I must say, we popped in to use the loo but the staff were ever so friendly. Ended up picking up a few bits and bobs, decent store overall.
Edward Martinez (14/05/2025, 06:01):
While not the biggest Asda supermarket around, this one is definitely worth dropping by if you're in the area. They have a good selection of general items and we found the staff to be quite helpful and attentive.
Brenda Jordan (10/05/2025, 10:05):
Asda is a decent spot for shopping, grabbing a coffee, soft drinks, or a bite to eat, although personally, I am not a huge fan of the cafeteria's food selection. I find it quite bland and lacking in originality. It would be great to see some more exciting menu options with strong leadership in place. The majority of the staff are pleasant, but occasionally you may encounter a younger woman who seems disinterested in assisting you. There are also instances where workers can be found chatting amongst themselves while customers wait to purchase cigarettes or lottery tickets. The store offers a good variety of products, although some items are priced on the higher side. Despite this, it's worth exploring other shopping options as well.
Larry Lee (09/05/2025, 01:20):
The behavior of a couple of the ladies who frequent the checkout area in the mornings is simply dreadful. This isn't the first time I've encountered such treatment; they show complete disregard for customers and made me feel very uneasy this morning. There's one lady in particular whose behavior towards customers would likely result in her dismissal in other lines of work. I've brought this up with a few people, and it's interesting how once you mention receiving poor treatment from staff in the mornings, everyone knows exactly who you're referring to. I'll be taking my 200-300 pounds per month to Aldi, Tesco, Sainsbury's, or Morrisons where I may receive a bit more respect. Oh, Asda management, please speak to your staff about not making customers wait while they are engrossed in gossip or idle chatter when customers are trying to pass through or seeking assistance; they may not have the luxury of waiting five minutes until the staff finish their conversations.
