In-store Shopping at Marks & Spencer Glasgow

Highlights of the Store

The store features a variety of great produce, including fresh bakery items and pre-packaged meals. However, recent customer feedback suggests that while the layout is efficient, the service can be inconsistent. For instance, some patrons experienced delays and issues with food availability in the café during peak times.

Food Hall: Always well-stocked with high-quality food options, open until 10 PM.

Dining Experience

While the café on-site has garnered mixed reviews, many customers agree that it is a great place for a quick visit. However, cleanliness and food availability have been concerns, with some reports of dirty tables and long wait times. In contrast, feedback on the food quality remains largely positive, especially regarding pastries and beverages.

Payment Methods

Final Thoughts

Overall, while the Marks & Spencer supermarket in Glasgow offers a well-rounded shopping experience with great produce and accessibility, areas such as staff training and café management appear to need improvement. The staff is absolutely brilliant and so cheerful, they couldn't be more helpful. A couple of youngsters, but we all had to start somewhere. I visit this café regularly and would highly recommend it. There's a girl named Stacey, she's delightful, always with a smile on her face. Keep up the great work, team!

Unpleasant experience with a staff member today at the supermarket. Purchased trousers priced at £5, but was charged £6 at the register. When politely pointing out the error, the employee insisted it was correct according to the machine, despite the clear discrepancy between the tag and the price.

The employee's rude behavior, including raising her voice, was uncalled for as we simply wanted the mistake rectified to prevent future customers from being misled.

Giving a 3-star rating as most employees we've interacted with in the past have been pleasant and the store itself is inviting, but this particular encounter left much to be desired.

I frequent the food hall a fair bit and was assisted by Ryan today. A truly pleasant fellow with excellent service skills. As I work in a customer-facing role myself, I recognize that Ryan has got it spot on. I do hope he gets recognition for his outstanding work! 🙌🏻

Visited the supermarket cafe today and had a wide selection to choose from. The service was friendly, but there weren't enough staff which resulted in long queues. My grandson, who is almost 2 years old, doesn't seem to enjoy the new square children's sandwiches. He refuses to eat them. I kindly request to bring back the finger sandwiches as they were a favorite of his. Thank you!

First visit to the M&S Fort and was really impressed with the store. I was there with my son, his wife, and my grandson. We decided to grab lunch at their restaurant, which was quite busy. However, after paying for our order of toasties and a bacon roll, we waited 30 minutes and still hadn't received our food. It was only after my son had to complain, explaining that I am diabetic and needed food promptly, that the manager took action. The service was absolutely terrible, and the bacon roll was full of fatty streaky bacon. I'm sure there are far better dining options with much better service at the Fort. I actually had complained years ago about the quality of their bacon rolls, and they did switch back to the higher-quality back bacon they used to serve. It seems like greed is becoming a priority over customer satisfaction. I would not recommend this place - they really need to get their act together.

Market themselves as a top spot for men's fashion, but after purchasing a suit, the checkout crew on the first floor (around noon on July 18th) declined to offer a suit bag and didn't make the effort to fetch one. They squeezed the suit into a tiny paper bag, so now I'll have to get it steamed. Takeaway: Avoid M&S for formal men's attire.

I must say, the service at the cafe was quite disappointing. It took a good 20 minutes to get our hands on two coffees and a couple of slices of cake, which is far too long in my book. On top of that, every table was littered with paper cups and plates. And when they were finally cleared, none of them were properly cleaned or wiped down with antibacterial solution. This is not the standard of service I would anticipate from a place like M&S.

Charming café, so light and airy.
Always bustling.
Tried the egg royale and tomato soup.

The service from everyone in the store was absolutely top-notch! When I arrived at the bra fitting area with my elderly mother, we were informed that we needed to book online. Sharon kindly took care of this for us, leaving us with 1 hour and 15 minutes before our appointment. We then sought out clothes suitable for an 85-year-old, and Carolyn was fantastic. She took items up to the bra fitting area for us to try on after the fitting. I also spoke with another staff member (didn't catch her name), who was extremely helpful in finding appropriate skirts.

Afterwards, we headed to the cafe where the staff, especially Lucy, were friendly and efficient. Lucy even swapped out an omelette for a soup when we realized it wouldn't suit my mum.

Upon returning to the bra fitting area, Sharon continued to shine. She was incredibly patient and kind while assisting my mum. Finally, when it came time to pay, we wanted to order a few extra items not available in-store, and once again, the staff proved to be friendly and efficient.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for making this shopping trip successful and stress-free.
Andrew Sullivan (10/08/2025, 15:25):
The pub was calm, the staff quite charming. Yet, having breakfast in a pasta bowl is not very handy. The poached eggs were a bit chilly. We requested no beans but they still came. A tad more precision is needed. Cheers!

Went to grab me brekkie at the cafe this mornin'. Me order was a bit delayed but they sorted it out right quick. Top-notch customer service from these blokes, Ruth and Peter, sorted it all out in a jiffy. Couldn't be more helpful and understanding, I tell ya.
Michelle Perry (07/08/2025, 21:25):
Tremendous variety of food options at the food hall, with plenty to choose from including vegetarian and gluten-free selections, and the variety is extensive! The clothing selection is fantastic, with the women's section on the ground floor and the men's and children's sections upstairs, as well as a range of underwear and nightwear. The cafe is absolutely fabulous, offering a great selection of sandwiches, toasties, cakes, and biscuits, including gluten-free options. The spacious and airy atmosphere provides a lovely view over The Fort.
Logan Smith (04/08/2025, 00:16):
A dreadful ordeal, the item I sought was not available, as I departed the establishment, a Gentleman claiming to be a security officer for M&S accosted me. He insisted I return to the store and proceeded to physically harm me, causing my arm to ache for days after. Since then, I have refrained from revisiting the store! It turned out to be a case of mistaken identity, or so I was informed.
Kelly Martin (03/08/2025, 20:40):
Ah, mate, the Supermarket's got everything you need for a proper shopping spree. All sorts of sizes and styles to choose from. Though I must say, the selection of food is a bit restricted with too many similar items, and it seems like the alcoholic drinks are hogging all the shelf space.
Alexander Anderson (02/08/2025, 13:22):
I recently availed myself of the food hall and currency exchange at the Supermarket. The currency exchange service was a breeze with competitive rates, and I was served by a delightful young lady. As for the food hall, it was satisfactory overall, although I found the black cherries to be lacking in flavor. Additionally, the young man operating the trolley seemed to have a penchant for dishing out sarcastic remarks.
Nancy Brooks (02/08/2025, 02:36):
Massive store at Glasgow Fort shopping center. Extensive parking and a sprawling shopping complex. Impressive selection within the store, with a top-floor restaurant adding to the experience. All sections catered for, from men's and women's wear to kids' clothing and home goods. A must-visit for anyone seeking a large-scale M&S experience in Glasgow.
Isabella Brown (01/08/2025, 11:19):
Today I was in the market for my son's school shirts and stumbled upon this wonderful lady named Amy on the top floor. She was an absolute gem, offering me a variety of options to choose from and even managing to secure the last size I needed. What a wonderful girl, she truly saved the day!
Jose Thompson (01/08/2025, 06:09):
My shopping experience was just splendid, I must say. I managed to find all the items on my list and the checkout process was a breeze, I tell ya. And let me not forget about the cafe, where the staff was incredibly helpful and simply delightful. Cheers to a great shopping trip!
Elizabeth Lee (01/08/2025, 02:49):
Popped into your shop today after a long bus ride from Govan bus terminal (1 hour). Had been eager for a tasty coffee treat at M&S. I don't usually venture out for coffee nowadays. The young lady at the cash register inquired if I fancied some jam with my scone (the jams used to be displayed near the butter, etc.). I asked if it came with the scone. She replied 'no, it's an extra 50p'. I decided to pass on the jam. After paying with my card, I caught her imitating me to her colleague about skipping the jam. Although I had spoken in a normal tone, she seemed genuinely offended, and her behavior put me off the coffee I had been so looking forward to. When I politely asked if there were any teaspoons, she responded curtly. Not quite the service I expected from M&S. Next time I visit the Fort, I'll likely opt for Costa instead. This encounter made me feel as though I should be ashamed and unwelcome for not spending more. It's a pity, as the coffee, scone, and butter were delightful.
Brandon Coleman (31/07/2025, 18:22):
Oh, what a fantastic find! The coffee is absolutely top-notch. I must remember to inquire about their supplier so I can enjoy it at home. And let's not forget the delightful variety of mouthwatering cakes they have on offer. It's definitely a wonderful spot to take a break, grab some lunch, and treat yourself to coffee and cake.
