Marks and Spencer: A Quick Visit to Aberdeen's Supermarket

Marks and Spencer (M&S) in Aberdeen is a renowned destination for shoppers seeking quality food, clothing, and accessories. This supermarket combines an accessible layout with a wide variety of offerings that cater to diverse customer needs, including those who are LGBTQ+ friendly.

In-Store Shopping Experience

The layout of Marks and Spencer is well-designed, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible car park. Shoppers can comfortably navigate through the aisles, which are well-stocked and neatly arranged. However, some customers have noted that accessibility can be limited by certain items impeding aisles, particularly for those requiring more space while navigating.

Food Hall Highlights

One of the standout features of M&S is its food hall. Customers rave about the great produce, which includes fresh fruits, high-quality meats, and an extensive deli section offering hot meats and gourmet cheeses. The food hall is described as “a food lover’s heaven,” making it an attractive option for anyone looking to elevate their grocery shopping experience.

Service Options and Payments

Marks and Spencer provides various service options including in-store pick-up and delivery. For convenience, NFC mobile payments and debit card transactions are accepted, although some complaints have been raised regarding issues with overcharging at self-service tills. Unfortunately, cash-only transactions have also occurred, leading to confusion among shoppers.

Cafe Experience and Customer Service

While the cafe at M&S serves a range of food items such as sandwiches and breakfasts, experiences can vary. Some patrons note that the menu may be limited, but others have enjoyed their meals. Reviews indicate inconsistent customer service, with outstanding experiences reported alongside disappointing ones. Staff like Simon received high praise for their helpfulness, reinforcing M&S's commitment to excellent customer service.

Accessibility and Inclusivity

Marks and Spencer strives to be inclusive, catering to a diverse demographic. Although there are efforts to create an LGBTQ+ friendly environment, challenges remain, especially regarding the assistance offered to individuals needing help in locating products. Some customers have noted difficulties with signage and staff availability.

Conclusion: A Mixed Bag

Overall, Marks and Spencer in Aberdeen presents a unique shopping experience combining quality goods and customer service. While prices may be higher than competitors, many shoppers find value in the premium offerings, particularly in the food hall. However, consistent customer service and accessibility improvements are needed to enhance the shopping experience further. For shoppers in search of a variety of food options and quality clothing, M&S remains a great option to consider during your next quick visit.

Wayne Moore (09/07/2025, 07:43):
I attempted to call the shop as the upper two levels appeared to be closed, and I am uncertain if they have reopened yet. After a frustrating conversation with an automated system that failed to grasp my inquiry, it abruptly ended the call. I would greatly appreciate speaking with a live representative to obtain the necessary information. This situation is quite absurd.
Willie Gutierrez (07/07/2025, 01:13):
Great range of products in the supermarket, but had a rather unpleasant experience with the security guard. It felt like he was tailing me the entire time I was there. I decided to leave earlier than planned because his behavior was quite unsettling. However, when I mentioned this to a staff member at the self-checkout, she was very apologetic and understanding. I think I'll start shopping at the Union Square store instead to avoid feeling so anxious.
Jeremy Foster (05/07/2025, 00:38):
Just popped into their cafe for the first time. The menu was a bit limited, but I decided to go for their Big Breakfast. Surprisingly, it arrived just like the picture in the menu! Everything was piping hot, although I found it strange that the poached eggs were only warm. Besides that, it was rather pleasant and at £8.95, it was fairly priced considering everything seems to be getting more expensive nowadays.

We 'ad to inquire about a piece o' clothing and the lass was right friendly and ever so 'elpful. Top-notch service with a genuine smile, mate.
Austin Wilson (01/07/2025, 09:18):
So, mate, I was just doing my usual shopping at M&S today when out of the blue a lass comes up to me and tells me I'm banned from the store! Can you believe it? She didn't even show me any evidence of misbehaving. When I asked why, she said they saw me on CCTV as a "suspected customer". Like, what in the world? I've never been told I did anything wrong before in that shop. Definitely won't be setting foot in any M&S again, that's for sure!
Layla Patterson (26/06/2025, 09:38):
Not particularly helpful. My size wasn't available, and when I inquired about ordering it in the dressing room, I was told to do so at the checkouts. However, there was a long line there, and I couldn't locate anyone to assist me.
Frank Thomas (23/06/2025, 10:50):
We had the pleasure of being assisted by Liz B, who went above and beyond to help us out. Not only did she assist in downloading the Marks and Spencer app onto our phones, but she did so with grace and impeccable manners. Liz B is truly a gem and made our shopping experience a delight. Thank you, Liz B!
Jennifer Gutierrez (19/06/2025, 05:44):
Ordered a large latte and 2 cooked breakfasts, ended up receiving a medium latte and 2 vegan breakfasts instead. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding due to my English accent, not Scottish.
Austin Ford (19/06/2025, 02:32):
The staff was incredibly helpful and there were plenty of them available. I was thrilled with the selection of clothes and after my shopping, I enjoyed an excellent sandwich and coffee. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience.
Deborah Kim (17/06/2025, 03:29):
I absolutely adore the M&S food selection and I make it a point to shop here frequently.
Nevertheless, when I compare it to other Foodhalls I've visited in different cities, this one doesn't quite measure up.
I often find items to be out of stock and it seems like the staff are more interested in having a chat amongst themselves rather than assisting customers.
Rebecca Reyes (15/06/2025, 00:01):
Just nabbed the final £15 Percy Pig, and now the missus and the wee lass are parceling it out, one night at a go. Top-notch snuggle buddy, that one.
Dylan Myers (14/06/2025, 03:25):
Great products but navigating the store is a nightmare due to lack of signage. After 3 unsuccessful attempts to find women's clothing on the ground floor, I finally realized that women's rights were located in the underwear section on the first floor! Additionally, the vegetarian food selection is disappointingly small. Come on M&S, it's time to update and cater to all customers. Many of us love you but you're not making it easy for us.
Brian Sanders (13/06/2025, 09:34):
I absolutely adore M&S for their exquisite food hall offerings. However, I do wish the clothing department would expand their range to include more sizes for us curvier ladies.
Eugene Morgan (11/06/2025, 20:37):
A vast selection of food, particularly frozen meals, is available. The bakery items are discounted in the evenings. The shrimp cocktail is quite delightful to the taste buds.
Russell Hernandez (10/06/2025, 09:07):
I must say, this supermarket in a prime location is quite remarkable. I’ve heard it’s always bustling with activity, perhaps because the beloved John Lewis store is no longer in Aberdeen.
Jesse Cooper (10/06/2025, 00:25):
A splendid array of products. The pricing can be quite surprising for the quality you get. I frequent this establishment often. The queues at the checkout can be rather long. Although there are express checkouts available, they don't always provide a much faster service. The café is not exceptional, with food that is fairly average and overpriced, though the beverages are passable. Finding a seat can be a challenge during peak hours. The clothing selection isn't as impressive as it once was. Overall, I appreciate the place, but it doesn't quite capture my heart.
Nicholas Sanders (09/06/2025, 15:44):
Oh dear, I must say that Boxing Day turned out to be quite the disappointment. The reductions seemed to be heavily skewed towards the women's department, with only a sparse selection of shirts, jumpers, and slippers on sale in the men's section. It almost felt like they should have named it Women's Boxing Day instead! The lack of sales for men's items was truly disheartening and left much to be desired. Overall, it ended up being a bit of a letdown and hardly worth the time.
Chloe Butler (07/06/2025, 09:13):
I would strongly advise steering clear of this particular store as they are rather deceitful. I recently acquired a skirt under the impression that it was eligible for an exchange, only to be informed later that it did not meet the undisclosed criteria for returns. My recommendation would be to refrain from making any clothing purchases at this establishment!
Angela Roberts (06/06/2025, 10:43):
I must say I frequented this place quite a lot during my time in the city. Being right in the heart of the city center where choices are aplenty, my multiple visits serve as evidence that they are indeed excelling in their offerings. The food hall is rather decent as well, I must admit.
Barbara Robinson (04/06/2025, 09:53):
Well, what can I say? It's a typical Marks and Sparks with a pretty decent food section, a café, and even a Bureau de Change. It may lack a bit of character, but you can't go wrong with the quality of their food.
