Marks and Spencer: A Quick Visit to Aberdeen's Supermarket
Marks and Spencer (M&S) in Aberdeen is a renowned destination for shoppers seeking quality food, clothing, and accessories. This supermarket combines an accessible layout with a wide variety of offerings that cater to diverse customer needs, including those who are LGBTQ+ friendly.
In-Store Shopping Experience
The layout of Marks and Spencer is well-designed, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible car park. Shoppers can comfortably navigate through the aisles, which are well-stocked and neatly arranged. However, some customers have noted that accessibility can be limited by certain items impeding aisles, particularly for those requiring more space while navigating.
Food Hall Highlights
One of the standout features of M&S is its food hall. Customers rave about the great produce, which includes fresh fruits, high-quality meats, and an extensive deli section offering hot meats and gourmet cheeses. The food hall is described as “a food lover’s heaven,” making it an attractive option for anyone looking to elevate their grocery shopping experience.
Service Options and Payments
Marks and Spencer provides various service options including in-store pick-up and delivery. For convenience, NFC mobile payments and debit card transactions are accepted, although some complaints have been raised regarding issues with overcharging at self-service tills. Unfortunately, cash-only transactions have also occurred, leading to confusion among shoppers.
Cafe Experience and Customer Service
While the cafe at M&S serves a range of food items such as sandwiches and breakfasts, experiences can vary. Some patrons note that the menu may be limited, but others have enjoyed their meals. Reviews indicate inconsistent customer service, with outstanding experiences reported alongside disappointing ones. Staff like Simon received high praise for their helpfulness, reinforcing M&S's commitment to excellent customer service.
Accessibility and Inclusivity
Marks and Spencer strives to be inclusive, catering to a diverse demographic. Although there are efforts to create an LGBTQ+ friendly environment, challenges remain, especially regarding the assistance offered to individuals needing help in locating products. Some customers have noted difficulties with signage and staff availability.
Conclusion: A Mixed Bag
Overall, Marks and Spencer in Aberdeen presents a unique shopping experience combining quality goods and customer service. While prices may be higher than competitors, many shoppers find value in the premium offerings, particularly in the food hall. However, consistent customer service and accessibility improvements are needed to enhance the shopping experience further. For shoppers in search of a variety of food options and quality clothing, M&S remains a great option to consider during your next quick visit.

I had a splendid encounter with Simon today at the tills on the ground floor. He was incredibly amiable and courteous, and even took the time to inform me about a beauty offer that I ended up purchasing. I was delighted as I had completely forgotten about the promotion! This is the epitome of exceptional customer service. Kudos to you, Simon, and thank you kindly! 😊

The interior of this supermarket is simply exquisite, with a sophisticated and elegant design that sets it apart. The range of products available here is truly extensive, catering to all your needs. The quality of the items is truly exceptional, there is no doubt about it. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that this store tends to be significantly pricier compared to other competitors such as Primark.

The upper floors are closed. There's a limited selection of clothes, especially for men. It's a shame for M&S in Aberdeen - seems like it's struggling, much like Debenhams and John Lewis.
Alice Miller (20/05/2025, 07:35):
Absolutely adored the apparel boutique and the café located on the upper level! What a splendid way to wrap up a shopping excursion than with a delightful cup of coffee and scrumptious desserts. The cakes and coffee were top-notch. We savored the coffee and walnut cake, the chocolate cake, and an Americano as well.
The spacious layout offers ample seating options. The personnel, both in the café and in the clothing section, were exceedingly pleasant and amicable.
Nathan Richardson (18/05/2025, 05:13):
This supermarket is absolutely fantastic! Jordan is friendly and always eager to help. Michael is incredibly knowledgeable about wine. The checkout staff are attentive and even remember your face, like Marion. The team here really make this store stand out.
Oh, and a little tip - remind them to double-check the deli pies as they sometimes mix up the flavors. Chicken mushroom should not equal Peppered Steak!
And hey, Marks & Spencer, if you're reading this - please bring back the deli burrata, it was heavenly! And consider stocking some Arbequina olive oil for that extra touch of perfection. Cheers!

As I was strolling through the food section, I narrowly avoided a potentially dangerous situation. Just moments after I had passed by, a shelving unit filled with stock came crashing down to the ground with a loud clang. A mother and her child were right behind me, making the situation even more alarming. The metal shelving made me realize how fortunate we were to have narrowly escaped a possible disaster. Needless to say, I was quite startled by the whole incident.
Susan Wright (09/05/2025, 20:08):
Fabulous spot! I constantly find myself drawn to the offerings in the food hall. It's fantastic for picking up a little something special for a friend or loved one.
Victoria Foster (06/05/2025, 05:06):
I would give a better rating if the drive-thru pick-up service was enhanced. One lane is always obstructed by storage items, leading to traffic jams on the narrow road outside and significant waiting times to retrieve groceries. I'm contemplating shopping elsewhere if this issue persists.
Victoria Jones (05/05/2025, 06:09):
Top-notch supermarket. Snagged a real deal in the 60% off sale. Picked up a snazzy formal shirt for £20 instead of £45. Staff were super friendly too!!
Janice Brooks (04/05/2025, 14:15):
I placed an order for a pizza at the cafe, but sadly they had run out by the time we had paid. The staff were extremely apologetic, very courteous and amicable, and made every effort to rectify the situation. They promptly issued a full refund. The items we did receive were truly scrumptious. Much appreciated!
Victoria Bailey (04/05/2025, 05:21):
Lovely shop, an amazing variety of hats in all styles you can think of, perfect for my winter outing. Landed at the airport just 20 minutes ago and now I've got a top-notch hat to keep my ears warm and my bald head cozy... good job M&S!
Ralph Wright (04/05/2025, 05:11):
It's a shop like many others with a wide range of groceries, clothing, household items, and even a currency exchange service. Don't forget about the café they have as well.
This place has been around since the 1960s and is a staple of shopping in Aberdeen.
Absolutely mad around Christmastime and consistently bustling with shoppers.
Stephen Baker (01/05/2025, 09:02):
It was just alright. A big department store with a grocery store on the ground level and clothing spread across the ground, first, and second floors.
On the top floor, there's a restaurant and a foreign exchange bureau for vacation currency.
I was there with my family so couldn't explore much. There's parking available nearby at the Bon Accord car park, and for those taking public transport, there are bus stops conveniently located close by!
Deborah Rodriguez (29/04/2025, 11:36):
Aberdeen has this massive Marks & Spencer store where you can score top-notch clothing. Whenever I make my way to Scotland in the UK, that's my go-to spot for all my fashion needs.
Julie Hamilton (29/04/2025, 08:50):
December 2024 - The cafe was only a temporary set-up but decent enough for a quick sandwich and coffee fix. The staff members were exceedingly polite, and while the food selection was somewhat limited, it was satisfactory. Moreover, the prices were quite reasonable.
Albert Taylor (26/04/2025, 06:47):
My partner, my son, and I were heading to the currency exchange bureau to withdraw some money. While we waited for my partner, we decided to sit on a display bed since there were no chairs available. A staff member came up to us and said, "I have just fixed this, please vacate." I found this quite impolite.
Layla King (24/04/2025, 05:40):
This store is amazing, they have a great selection of high-quality clothing and footwear at unbeatable prices.
Bryan Powell (18/04/2025, 10:44):
I was thrilled when I stumbled upon items celebrating the Chinese Spring Festival at the supermarket. The attention to detail was evident, and I must say, the taste of the products was remarkable. While not entirely authentic, they are definitely worth a try. Additionally, I was pleased to discover new offerings like pigeon meat and pheasant meat at the supermarket. The veal liver was delectable and incredibly fresh. The beef bone marrow stew was quite tasty as well. Although not featured in my photos, I ended up purchasing some peaches, which were juicy and sweet. Highly recommended. The ham was also a standout, boasting a delicate savory and salty flavor.
Charlotte Peterson (18/04/2025, 01:39):
Popped into the supermarket to pick up my order. It was brilliant that they opened at 8:30, so I could grab it on my way to work. The staff at the collection desk were friendly and quick. I was the only one in line, so the whole process took less than 5 minutes. The only downside was that I wasn't sure where to go and there weren't many staff around to ask. I only spotted the signposting once I got to the top floor.
Diana Roberts (17/04/2025, 06:37):
The food is top-notch, and I usually find what I'm looking for, but it's on the pricey side, which isn't really my cup of tea. As for the clothing, well, it's a bit of a mixed bag. It's definitely not budget-friendly, and the style doesn't quite align with mine. While it might be good quality, I've never felt inclined to splash out and give it a go. Plus, the store itself is always bustling, and the ambiance isn't quite my vibe. It feels like it caters more towards the upscale crowd, and that's not really my scene, if you catch my drift. I'm not a fan of people who act superior to others – we're all equals in my book. I believe in reserving judgment until you truly get to know something or someone.
